Mediated Secular Activism

Exploring the topic of social interventions, religion and politics in digital spaces led me to an interview on February 10th with Atheist Activist, Hemant Mehta. You may know him as The Friendly Atheist from his Youtube channel or his Podcast. His publications include, I Sold My Soul on Ebay and The Young Atheist’s Survival Guide.

About Hemant Mehta

Hemant Mehta is the editor of Friendly Atheist, appears on the Atheist Voice channel on YouTube, and co-hosts the Friendly Atheist Podcast. He is a former National Board Certified high school math teacher in the suburbs of Chicago, where he taught for for seven years. He continues to coach their Speech/forensics team.

Hemant has appeared on CNN and FOX News Channel, served on the board of directors for Foundation Beyond Belief (a charity organization targeting non-theistic donors) and the Secular Student Alliance (which creates and supports college atheist groups nationwide). He also edited the book Queer Disbelief. He has also released a podcast called The Supreme Court vs. Church/State Separation, the first season of which was all about the complicated history of the Pledge of Allegiance.
